Hey guys I am thinking of replacing my distributor and have been looking at these two distributors. The Pertronix has the ignitor III module which is supposed to act as a sort of mini ignition box. The TA unit obviously looks hideous like all HEI distributors and I would have to recurve it all in by 2400 (not a big deal).

Just curious of everyone's experiences with said products.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

The TA HEI has 22* of mechanical advance which lets you run 12* initial timing. I don't know about the Pertronix distributor. Do you know the specs on it, or does it have an adjustable mechanical advance like an MSD distributor?

OK, so I looked it up,

Looks like an adjustable mechanical advance, so that is a big plus. Not really a big fan of Pertronix, but it looks like a nice distributor.

Not to mention that the TA is about $130 cheaper. Other than having a constant 12v from the switch is there anything else involved in switching to HEI?

Yes, potential interference with the intake manifold, upper radiator hose, and GS air cleaner. Nothing that can't be overcome.
