ta headers exhaust leak?

    1.whats up fellas i installed my headers, but i didn't use any gasket sealant was that a mistake.

    2. are you suppose to use a tork wrench on the bolts

    3.are the gaskets suppose to lay completely flat even though the welded part of the headers isn't .

    4. is any smoke suppose to come from them?

    smoke will come off the headers the first time you run the car. it's just crap burning off, it should stop in a few minutes. if they're painted, though, you may get crap (paint) burning off for days.

    i would install the gaskets dry first. if you get leaks that won't go away, you may want to try some spray tack or something next time.

    torque wrench not needed...as if it'll even fit. i use a short 7/16 wrench and just get them very snug. not really any brute force applied.

    the welds at the flange are often a little uneven. a composite head gasket should cover up the imperfection.
