I 12:1 comp. stage II heads flow 328 248 at .600 4500 stall, 4:10 gears 29.5 tire at 3750lbs. the car seems to run hard but alway looking for improvement

Hey Dubuick what kind of rear suspension tricks are applied to your car. I want my car to 60 ft like that.

The rear is all stock 1969 stuff with an air bag and lakewood slaper bars nothing special yet

    DuBuick,
I ran the 508s in my 68 wagon and I was very happy with my times.
I broke at Etown in Sept, either lifter bores on no. three cyl broke or the cam broke. If I built the same motor I would use the same came. With head work, it pulls very hard!
My best was 10.31 @ 129.85, 1.41 60' . the wagon weight is 3535 with me, 4.10 spool ,4200 stall (+-) conv , 29.5" tires, 1050 dom .on KB wildcat intake, 2 1/2 cowl hood, 4" exhaust with mufflers, "X" pipe and turn downs at rear axle.
I didn't get a chance to run at Cecil County this fall, but Bruce Wilson and I were .02 to .03 different in the quarter. Bruce , on a great air day in Nov went 9.96 and 9.99 . NO proof, but I feel the wagon would have run 10.0s or teens, will never know!
If you change cams what would you use without going to the big buck roller?
    Have a great Holiday!!!

    Bill, '

I was reading a article in bpg book i had got and my motor i build very simlar to your I liked the numbers your car ran and i was happy with the results i had being the first year with a whole new setup I was kinda thinking the cam might be to big when i got it put it seemed to work in your car.The other question i got for you is do you think the kb intake with a dom. is better then the sp1 with 1000 + cfm pro series 4150 holley my ran the numbers below at new england dragway but i never got to run in good air do to a humid air fall

    DuBuick,
I think that both intakes are very good. i used the KB because of the fresh air passage under the carb, this is good because the runners stay cooler, more HP. As for the carb, they all run good if you have a good combo. TA is releasing a new intake soon(Refined KB coolrunner).
I did my own port work on the intake and heads. I was told that I screwed the heads up because the exhaust ports are "D" shape and I opened them round the same as the header. If they are screwed up, just think what a good set would do!!! One day I'll have them flowed.
