    Hello to all!
I have just rebuilt the 455 in my gsx and used the T A Performance orange crush head gaskets They were installed properly and retorqued after 24 hrs and again after 48 hrs this was several months ago , The motor now in the car i pressure tested the cooling system and i have a small head gasket leak ??
Has any one had a similar problem with them ??

Never.. used prolly 15 sets. Iron/Iron heads and block, and Alum/Iron combos.

    Heads and block milled straight?

    orange crush leak?

How did you seal the threads in the block on the 4 extra studs per bank? Mine first leaked around one of the stud's threads until I removed and resealed it. I used white loctite pst with the brush in the cap. Permatex #1 also works.

The block was done several years ago Had very low street miles on it I just freshend her up new crank ,& bearings, rings ,fullgrove cam bearings , and a new cam ate the last one up and a new set of 70 stage 1 Heads I remove the Hi psi/volume oil pump and went with T A boost plate and pressure adjusteble setup
Now about the extra Holes i didn't think you had to do anything with them as they are not used?
I Haven't a clue Now i went out to the car and it held cooling system pressure all night and the seeping has stoped ????
Now i am realy baffeled do these have to be run or heated up by motor to seal ?????
I AM realy Baffeled I Have built a fue motors in my days and seen some weird sh@# but this is a new one

    orange crush leak?

I assumed you were using the extra studs. This is where mine leaked. I have not heard of any problems from Dave at TA Performance with regard to Orange Crush gaskets. He's a good one to talk with. Mine have performed flawlessly.

    leak

I had a water sealing issue with my orange crush gaskets also. The first time, i had the heads decked and the block was flat. Both sides were leaking in the middle with the orange crush gaskets. So i had to repair a cam problem also, so i had the block decked at that time while it was torn apart. I put it back together with orange crush gaskets again. Again it leaked in the same spot. I followed TA's directions word for word. This is an all cast iron motor and both surfaces perfectly flat. I dont understand why its leaking. I would think it would have to be the gaskets.

Make sure that the locater pins in the block are not too long. They will hold the heads up off the block. This bit me one time when we had milled the heads and block a lot to get some cheap compression. The orange gaskets are excellent.
