Can someone post a picture of the TA part number on the 455 cover they received from TA. Thanks in advance.

No question that the cover that you show in the pictures is a genuine TA Performance piece.. beyond the numbers, the casting process is completely different than the other cover on the market, TA's being a sand casting, vs the offshore one is a die casting. The surface finish is completely different between the two.

I would imagine that cars is substituting the offshore piece for the non existant TA cover they normally sell with that ad.. but have not changed the ad.. hopefully they changed the price, because the offshore cover is considerably less expensive.

Thanks Jim for verification that the cover is a TA cover. I did just purchase it from cars about two weeks ago. Same price as TA. $549.

Has anyone else had issues with front seal leaking on their timing cover that comes with the TA ? Or should a guy spend a few bucks and put the bop engineering one that was suggested earlier?

It all depends on your Damper on how tight the seal fits. Im guessing there is nothing wrong with the TA seal... So mic your damper. Or buy the insurance so you don't have to fix it..

That is all kinds of wrong for TA to do that. I had no idea that having the customer pay for shipping return that TA screwed up is their policy.

What little I know of the Stage 2 heads, they have round ports where the Stage 1 heads have rectangle ports.

I would think, the Stage 2 heads require a different exhaust header and also they would need a different exhaust port gasket.

I have bought several engine parts from TA and never had an issue.

From what you told me, you should have never had to pay for any shipping return or reshipping to get the correct part.

Someone in the shipping department screwed up.

Did you get ahold of the owner of TA? I'am sure he would have reimbursed you. At least I would hope so.

Thank you for letting me know about this situation. Next time I order from them, I'll ask about their shipping policy. VET (Navy)

I bought a new timing chain cover from TA two years ago and had no problems, for my GS 455, seal worked great. Originally it had the old rope seal and leaked badly.

However, I did buy a new damper because the old damper had it's rubber falling out of it.

I love that the seal can be replaced (if ever needed) from the front without removing the cover.

Well good to hear the feedback! I did buy a new damper for the rebuild.
I ordered main bearings from TA and I don’t think its their fault but the hastings bearings I got from them the #3 thrust had both top halves of the bearing.. the bottom one was missing. Packaging mistake I would say. Lucky i has another set of bearings so all was good. I really paid attention to all parts ordered after that reminder that mistakes do happen sometimes! But for the guy to have to pay for return shipping on their mess up is not very good service

Sorry to hear about how you got ripped-off. I have bought several engine parts from TA and never experienced a shipping issue.

Seems to me, someone in the shipping department screwed up. What little I know about Stage 2 heads, headers for a Stage 2 head has got to be very different from a Stage 1 head.

For one thing, the Stage 2 has round ports and a Stage 1 has rectangle ports, even gaskets on a Stage 1 would not fit on a Stage 2 head.

I would have asked for the owner or president of TA, I'm sure he would have been good enough to not have you pay for their mistake.

Next time I order from TA, I will ask them about their shipping policy. Thank you for telling me your experience with TA's shipping debacle.

Sorry you had to go through this mess. Regards VET (Go Navy)

    Hey All,

Logan here. Just to clarify some of the things I have seen here, we do offer both a TA and non-TA version of this cover. We do not switch or substitute. One is TC676 (TA) and TC676P (non-TA). We want to be able to offer as many options as possible within as many budgets that exist in this community. Regardless, we are happy to offer both options. Also, sorry to hear some displeasure with the customer service on our end. I will make sure those kinds of things are noted, and improved. If you have any questions or concerns please feel to reach out to me at logan@oldbuickparts.com or call the shop (908) 369-3666 M-F 8:30-5:00 EST.

Please bear with us on the new website as well. I am working on it personally every day.

    Thanks!

    Logan Cecchine

Logan, thanks for offering the TA cover here on the East Coast and also the other option cover. I did try to explain yesterday that you offer two different covers on eBay. I did have an issue with customer service, but it has been resolved.

It would serve all of us better if we stated facts instead of assumptions.
I would think an apology is in order.
