I am building a 86 Regal w/455 and wanted to take advantage of the current pricing on T/A's street eleminator heads. My question is which one to use. This will be my 1st engine related purchase for the car, so any advice on engine combinations would be great. I am looking for a mid ten second car when finished. I have already installed a Moser 9" setup, and have fiberglass doors, trunk, back panel, hood, bumpers, and a gutted interior. I do this for the fun of the sport and love to share any info with others, which I havent seen anywhere except the Buick people. Any help on my current project is greatly appreciated. Thank, Shawn

    Welcome to the boards Shawn.
If you scroll down in the forums you will find one:
    "Regals with extra cylinders"
Post your question there and I'm sure you will get all the info you'll need.
    Good luck!:TU:

If you want to go to the expense of the new heads, maybe you could try the Stage IIs with some custom-bent headers. Top that with the TE manifold, and you'll have yourself a nice breathing engine.

Really, the biggest benefits to the Stage I heads is that they are externally the same as the Iron heads, and they can be made to look "stealth". But for a racecar, the Stage IIs will work better.

    Just my thoughts.

    Hi Guys,

Shawn...truthfully with your Regal as stripped/gutted and glass'd as you desrcibe....Then weight wise, a fairly mild iron headed 455 will more-than-likely have the ability to get you to your mid 10's goal!

Take a look at this thread as an example...

Here is a direct copy of that ad in case you did not want to go and read it there...

    9 second 462 FS
OK,so it ran 9.6's at 2700 lbs,but made you look.
The new motor is ready to go in the skyhawk so the current one is for sale.Freshened up last year.Ran consistent 9.6's with a best of 9.58 at 139 mph.Won Q16 at Cecil co. last fall.
    Engine is a 462 with Ross 12 to 1 pistons,1/16" rings,TA608 cam,3/8 pushrods,KB roller rockers,TA SP1 manifold,430 heads converted to stage 1 with port work,270+cfm,aluminum rods,ATI balancer,great oil pressure,can hear run,all or part.
    $5500 or????

A stripped Regal such as you've described your's as being shouldn't be to far from the weight of the above ad!:TU:

Just something for you to consider maybe...:Do No::TU:

Hope this helps in some way:)

Stg 2's. They have the better exhaust port. With as light as your making your car, it wouldn't be much to go for 9's.
