Will 70 and 71 front and rear bumpers fit on a 72? I assume they would just bolt up, but correct me if I am wrong.

They will bolt on, but in the front, the grills/headlight doors/hood moldings are different from 70 to 71/72. In the rear, the taillights are different as well as the nameplate (or lack thereof in the case of a 71 model) between 70 and 71/72. The 71/72 hoods had a "kicker" spring to help raise it a bit when the latch was first pulled. This helped you get your hand under the leading edge of the hood to raise it up after the secondary (safety) latch was released.

Thanks for the info. The reason I was asking is that my bumpers could use a re-chrome and since I am just building a street rod, I was thinking of spending the money on some lighter fiberglass bumpers and painting them body color. I have found a few places with 70 and/or 71 bumpers, but none for the 72.

I believe the 70 vs. the 71-72 also have different mounting brackets on the frame ends. Someone correct me if I'm wrong....

    Andy,

You are correct the 70 uses diferent bumper brackets as compared to the 71/72. Found this out the hard way.

    Adam,

The gas tank filler nozzle is also different and will need to be changed or inteference with rear bumper will result.
