Add 67-1970 Wildcats to the list I posted.

Or swap rears from one of the sister cars(Pontiac, Oldsmobile or a Chevrolet with the same frame) that has a whole world of aftermarket support.

    "Inner changeable"???

What "sister" car has the same frame as a '67 Riviera? Riv is an "E" body, as are the FWD Toro and Eldo.

Not sure, its not my car so I don't have to know. Although IIRC the '64 Riv shared the same X-frame as the '64 Impalas?

Also, the General even when a car would have a unique frame there would still be a rear from another car that would fit so production wouldn't be shut down if in there was a problem from the 9 3/8" rear supplier.

If for some reason the General didn't have a backup plan for that car(big if) there should be a rear close enough to cut off the welded on mounts from the 9 3/8" and weld them back on to the rear that is close. Unless this car is a restored to original points car, I would ditch the 9 3/8" for something with aftermarket support if I wanted to change gearing or add a posi and so on.

I’ve called several places and they said they could do the work and would tell me they would get back and never would

    Are these differentials posi?
Has anyone done this change yet?

Sorry, there are no "sister" models that are interchangeable with the '67 Riviera housing. You are stuck with finding compatible carriers/gears unless you find Riv posi housing, and I'm afraid I can't even tell you if the '68 Riv & up will fit.

Best bet is to post in "Parts Wanted". Make sure the posi carrier you get is compatible with the gear ratio you choose to run. More info on that in the thread linked above...definitely worth the read.

The parts are still out there and do turn up, I did exactly the same swap for my 3.07:1 gears, plus found a 3.42:1 posi carrier and gears, both purchases made right here on V8Buick.com..

Most places have no idea about this particular Buick unit. The two people I listed above do.

One option is to have a 9" Ford BIG AXLE BEARING rear modded to fit. Transfer over ALL the nec. brackets. Also you could use the Buick brakes & drums on the Ford rear. I know I've done it.
