This evening I got my stock rear out. I have a nice shiney new Ford 9" about to go in and am a bit stumped on what folks do with the brake lines. On the new ford, there is nothing to mount the lines too. Meaning on the old axel housing there were tabs that held the line in place. Also in the top of the center section is a bolt hole to attach the T too. That's not on the Ford either. Guessing I'm not the first to go down this road. What suggestions do you have?

All the 9's i have worked on and owned had the T with vent line on the driver side of the housing "pumpkin area" as it goes from the axle tube and ramps up to the top. If there is no hole then just use what you already have. Just drill/tap the 9" housing for the GM T and bolt, you will still need to vent it unless the GM bolt is a path through and you can attach the hose. Be sure you check for the clearance of the ring gear before drilling.

I have this. Sounds like I need a bracket and maybe a new brake line to attach. Breather.jpg

Yup, that is the factory location. What size brake line are you running? I would look for the Ford T and use that. Then just run new brake lines off the T. As you can see that bolt is a pass through and you can attach your vent tube to it. As far as the mounting tabs? You can make you own and weld them on.

That looks great. Since my last post I've done a bit more research and hit another small wall. I test fit one of my Buick 15" wheels. Seems the new disc brakes are rubbing just slightly so now looking at 1/4" spacer for the wheels. Think that will push them out just enough to allow the discs to fit.

Regarding the brake lines, my rear did not come with any lines. It was a basic kit: Disc Brakes, center section, axles and gears. I've assembled them, and added my fluids, now to get the brake lines figured out. Looks like I need a larger (taller) breather valve to allow the install of the rear brake line section with the splitter or T. Then flex lines coming from the disc brakes and hard lines connecting it all together. Also see online there are tools you can get so that you can bend your own line, or kits available that are supposedly already pre-bent. I'm not in a position to weld any tabs to my axel housing and no way am I drilling into it. Cant believe nobody makes a clamp for a rear axle. You'd think that would be super easy to make I see billet ones for small applications like ATVs and motorcycles.

Saw another response saying don't even bother connecting the e-brake... Will cross that road at the end of figuring out all the above.
