I am on the verge of swapping columns with the Original Parts Group, I Did It, column listed for my year. I broke the bearing that is on the shaft where it enters the firewall from the engine housing while dropping a motor with headers in the car. I also have had horrible luck with the turn indicator cam inside my column. I am on my second cam and both are plastic pieces of crap. I have had brake light and tail light issues such as one brake light bright, one light faint, only left turn indicator works with lights on, etc. I am also curious how difficult of a swap this will be. It sounds like it won't be to hard. Has anyone out there already done this swap who could give me some advice, or a cheaper easier route?o No:
Do you need floor or column shift? I have a complete '66 Special column shift column sitting in my garage I will sell you. It isn't tilt, but it is a good column--came out of a car I parted out. It is black and still has the steering wheel on it too if you want that.
I put a I DIDIT in my 64 , should be about the same as your 66 . It was not a hard job at all. Great product , very nice and works well . But it was expensive. Love the tilt wheel and the 4 way warning flasher That is part of the upgrade with the Ididit over my old stock one. Go for it.
Brian, Thanks for the offer, I need floor shift, plus, its really that damn plastic piece of crap cancellation cam that I am fighting. Greatly appreciate the offer. Kirk
Tom, Thanks for the feedback! It is really expensive, I think mine is going to run about 650.00 including the steering wheel and rag joint. I am going to give it a try. Thanks again... Kirk
