    Hi everyone,
I'm new here, just joined @ 2 mins ago. My question is about suspension for a '68 GS400 convertible. I understand there was an optional heavy duty suspension setup for these cars? If so, how can you tell if your car has it or not. Also if I replace the coil springs with new ones ( most likley will happen ) are the heavy duty ones much different than the regular springs.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Dan,
The heavy duty suspension pieces were collectively known as the "Rallye Ride Control " package. The most visible part of this package is the rear stabilizer bar. You also got boxed rear lower control arms. The spring rates front and rear were a little firmer. There was also a brace that ran between the upper and lower rear control arm pivots. If you want to firm up the handling of your car, bolt on a set of bigger stabilizer bars, front and rear. I have the bars from www.hoenterprises.com They are 1 3/8" front and rear. They make a huge difference.

    Larry,
Thanks for the info. My car doesn't have any sway bars, so I'm assuming it doesn't have the heavy duty suspension. I was thinking about replacing all the control arm bushings( they look very old) and figured if I had them all torn apart it would be a good time to replace the coil springs too. Just thought it sounded like a good idea. Thanks again,
    Dan
