So I spent 2 hours wet sanding my firewall with # 600 wet/dry sandpaper...To finish off the nooks and krannys, I used #0000 steel wool...It worked great!!
So why haven't I heard of this method before???? It works tooooo welll!
Hopefully, I can share my experiences with others.....
Be sure to finish it off with a wipe with wax/grease remover!!

I just used the steel wool to finish sand my interior pieces before paint and they came out as smooth as silk, the finish is excellent! I just happened to be unable to find some fine sandpaper in my garage the other day and saw the wool,it does the job! :TU: ...Darren

I have done this as well, only 1 prob, make sure you blow the hell out of the area after you complete and before you do the final wipe it off. The metal fibers will get into places you didn't expect, and when you hit it with the air from the paint gun - oh crap....
