This supplier also goes by the name CARS. Last October i bought a hinge repair kit of '68 Skylark. Description was that it provided parts to repair both doors. At $40 it was better than about $50 each for new hinges. What I got was a kit to repair one side only - talking with them did nothing. I offered to split the added cost and the just flat refused. Very frustrating that they would be so arrogant about what they freely admit was their mistake.
BTW - the error is corrected in one place on their site now, but the downloaded catalog sitll has errors.
I will not be using them again and just want to provide a caution to anyone who may be looking for a reputable supplier.

    Yes, me too.
I ordered a few things last year, including bumper bolts. I figured if anyone had the correct bolts it would be them. WRONG. The correct ones should be the flatter ones, but they sent the taller rounded incorrect ones. I called and told them I thought it was just a mistake and maybe they could send the right ones. WRONG AGAIN! All the did was pi$$ me off, if I can buy what I need from anyone else I will never buy from them again. It is just their attitude that done me in.
OPG has been on my $hij list for years for the same reason.
    Rant over,
    Mike

Did you buy the door hinge/detent kit for 42.00? If so, that only does one side. In looking at the catalog online, it looks like you should of ordered two door hinge repair kits which are 20 each.

Maybe you could return the detent kit and order the 2 hinge kits instead which seems to be what you really wanted. :Do No: There's more than one way to skin a cat.

As far as CARS, they've always done right by me. They have stuff that you just cant find anywhere else. They are prompt in their shipping. If I place my order early enough, I get it the following day. But, I do my due dilligence and research everything Im buying with other companies prior too my call

Dont always assume the guy on the phone knows about the product he or she is selling. They do not. Usually the expert in the conversation is you.

Up to this point I had good results with them but a few years ago I ordered 3 hood bumpers and 3 locking nuts. They sent 6 hood bumpers and no nuts. Attempts to remedy the problem ended without resolve so I try not to buy from them anymore if I can get it somewhere else.

I look at ALL these vendors thru the same glasses. Like was mentioned when I call any vendor I am the expert (so to speak), except maybe when I'm calling TA because I don't know as much about engine internals and stuff. But anything else, I know better than the vendor, period. You need to be prepared to be able to tell them exactly what you need and expect to get.

I see vendors like insurance companies. Nobody ever has a problem with them as long as their claims or orders go smoothly. It's when you have a problem, how they deal with it, that sets them apart. And in my 48 years of life, I've yet to find a vendor that I can give a grade of A+ in customer service to. At one time or another, they have all sucked horribly.

I ordered a few cans of Buick RED spray paint, before I found out too late (after I already sprayed from the 1st can) that it's more a shade of Buick PINK, instead!:spank:

I'll never order from CARS, ever again!

DuPont has the best/closest Buick RED that I've used, or I'll custom mix my own, if I have to, before I'd buy spray cans from CARS/Year One/OPG/The Parts Place, or other WAREHOUSE companies, anymore!:Smarty:

I've bought several thousand $$ with them and never had a problem. There are certain people I try to talk to when I make my orders, though.

I read the old posts in the link from flynbuick. Wow, some people had terrible issues.

I bought my first part from Glenn at CARS somewhere around 1990 and have had too many transactions since to remember. I recall being thrilled back then that they had a specific Riviera catalog. Back then it was like gold. The more you do this the more you learn how many variables there are in a part descriptions as well as subtle differences in parts and you learn what questions to ask and what to look for.
Its a huge job, and cost, for any company to keep their websites and catalogs up to date with matching pictures and precise descriptions. They could probably hire two fulltime people to keep up with it but then all the prices would go up and we'd be complaining about that.

I spent a lot of money with CARS last year. The only issue was they pictured an original style tranny vacuum modulator but what I got was the new style that is 1/4 the size. After finding out the old style was not available anywhere in the world, I didn't bother sending it back. Over the last 20 years, if it wasn't for CARS, I'd have a very difficult time doing the restorations and I'm willing to absorb a minor issue now and then over many flawless transactions.

Its hard for me to imagine I have been lucky for so long not to get into a battle with them because I am known to be picky with higher than normal expectations.

I managed to find the original style of vacuum modulator from Rock Auto a couple years ago. It was a Standard Co. part. I think it may be discontinued. They came in gold but I painted it black. They had three left at the time and I bought two. Need the part #?.You can also buy the hinger repair pins and bushings from any body supply store. Very cheap.

I have been using Cars for my parts for years. I always call and ask for Jeff and only one time they got it wrong. But they sent out the correct stuff immediatly. Ive never had a bad deal with them
