This section is dead latley. If anyone has a used centrifugal setup or one they decided not to use for some reason let me know.
850 dp TA SP1 69 430 heads, 255 int., 200 exh, stage 1 valves 9 to 1 compression forged pistons Poston GS 113 cam TA Sportsman Rods Poston oil pan girdle TA headers, 1 7/8 to 3 1/2 3 in flowmaster exaust 3000 stall th350 3.73 gear I have a powershot 125 kit on it but looking into the supercharger, mainly xsperformance. Want the supercharger so i can get rid of the nitrous and start off with around 5 or 6 pounds of boost which would put me right around the same power level as the nitrous, but i would have it all the time, wouldnt run out, and can turn up the boost for more power in the fuure.
I'd rather go turbo, the belt drives have been an issue for me in the past on some LS1 and SBC setups. It's more work as far as tubing and tuning, but I prefer the turbo spool over S/C whine anyday
stock motor with headers, spx intake, and roller rockers. f1r supercharger with custom brackets for a buick designed by cliff gilman and john csordas sr and fabricated by rob giroux from precision billet designs. car also has an intercooler. stock rebuilt trans by mark deconti years ago and many miles ago nothing fancy in the trans car still shifts off the governor because street cars dont have manual valve bodies. stock torque converter. car went a best of 11.13 letting off before the 1000ft mark on 6 pounds of boost. car weighs 3960 pounds this drivetrain in another vehicle went 13.20 without the supercharger at the same weight. changed the gears the other night and hitting the track in 2 weeks.
the carb was bought from quick fuel in bowling green as they specialize in blow through carbs. as far as tuning there was none. it is perfect out of the box. even the idle was dead on. zack at quick fuel said if you have to make an adjustment send the carb back. and he was right it is dead on perfect.
Do you or did you have an air fuel ratio guage on it to make sure its not rich or lean for part, half, and full throttle? I know theres a lot of time and tuning for converting a carb for blowthrough, but not sure for the ones allready built specifically for it.
have not got a guage yet but working on getting the new autometer wideband setup. but according to quick fuel and it only being 6 pounds of boost i dont think it is much of a problem. maybe when the boost gets higher it would be more of an issue. i want to keep this car a street car as much as possible and i am sure there is going to be a big learning curve. luckily bobb from finishline is very nice and helped me out a lot with the basic setup as he is way past my point and pushing the limit with his setup. good thing for the bulldog block. i will try to post some more detailed pics later with a better write up of the car.
Does the guy who made your bracket still make these or was is a one off peice for you? If he does make them is there a website or number to reach them at?
we designed the brackets out of wood and rob machined them. he has the patterns for them. you can contact him on here his screen name is robsbuick i dont have his number in front of me but send him a pm and i am sure he can help you out as he will be selling these and producing them.
Does the bracket still allow the use of the power steering. Also, is he the one you got the supercharger and everything else from or did you have to buy everthing somewere else?
i bought all the charger parts used and basically had to shim up everything and space everything to work. it is not a bolt on item. it does take time. as far as power steering i did not even try to use this. i do have a passenger side custom mount alternator and vacuum pump setup though. i will try to post more detail pics tomorrow.
Saw some pictures of your car taken at the recent nationals. I was really curious how it worked. Thanks for the details, hopefully you can put up some more pictures. Thanks, Craig
You will want to get a AFR Gauge on that as soon as possible even though your only running 6psi. I ran into some issues with mine being out of tune and had a couple of head gasket failures even when I was only pushing 6 to 7 psi. I will say that I've had no belt issues what so ever runing the XSperfornace Bracket it's a great piece. If / When I redo things in the future, it will more than likely be large Turbo and not a charger... FYI, I'm currently running 14psi with Stock heads, Stock Block, Stock Crank, Stock Rods, forged Pistons, and a Halo Girdle. Been running procharged blow through boost on my 455 since 2003.
That is so cooool! Will you be at Englishtown with that car. I would love to see in person. Saw the video of it going down track.:TU:
i will be at e town with the red car. going on wed night before to make a few passes to try out the new gears and stock converter swap. old converter was slipping too much on top end. if there gear change is no good i will change it back before e town on friday night. will be there all weekend but not sure if i can make a pass until sunday due to the car being too loud. see ya there john jr
