IMG_1739.jpeg Golds Garage visits a machine shop in London Ontario, the guy has a Buick 350 in an Olds Omega he’s doing for a guy, guess the car runs low 12’s, and with that funky cam that’s going in he hopes for high 11’s
Can’t seem to copy and paste from You Tube as easy as before
Here’s a pic of the title.

From abt 5:13 to 9 minutes is the Stock Eliminator discussion.
Interesting profile on those cams. Always wondered. Ceramic lifter bottoms would be the cats azz and never wear out or wear period. I used to have seal journals ceramic coated on machine tool spindles to eliminate wear. Hard stuff!

I had Schubeck lifters with some NASA material puck on them....only issue is that you need to run more than normal valve spring pressure because if they ever float the lifter pucks shatter. Ask me how I know?.......

It's going to be a while for that car to get to the track:(
Hope someone is going to keep "track" of that car?:D

I had a cam with lobes that looked like that in my 455. Sounded wicked, power brakes were marginal and power died about 5500-5800 but it was a beast from 1200-5500.

Yeah that lobe profile almost resembles a roller grind.

    Ma
Makes me think I'm going w/a roller in my 350 build.

It was some sort of KB cheater cam for class racing. It was by the numbers, stock lift and stock duration but the .050 numbers were far from factory stock.

I still have a cheater cam with square lobes made by South Side Machine. .490 lift with huge duration. Ran really well.Solid lifter cam.

Go with a 108 LSA and you will be real happy.
What I did made a big difference in power and it wasn't that lift and duration..

If at all scared to run a regular cam on the break in you must pull those inner springs out to break in the cam, The EDM lifters did a good job on mine so far.
But I do know my valve guides are probably loose as I have seen smoke on the pass side of engine, and both if you rev it up a couple times.

Otherwise it is probably a good idea to run the roller cam just got to figure out what lifts and durations you want along with the lsa.

I think use the cam Demko has and put it at a 106-108 lsa with a 245-255 duration and 550-560 lift or a 235-245 duration and 540- 550 lift. with 107 lsa.

I think anywhere in that range is really good for the 350 but 107 lsa or their about is the best place in our opinion.

Appreciate the advice. I had excellent results on my last 350 w/ the KB C118 (118° LSA). So much so that if I was going to run a flat tappet that I'd consider getting another (KB's grinder is still in bus.) &/or similar w/minor changes. Next build will be similar in nature. But if I run a flat tappet, I have some learnin' to do & certainly wouldn’t make a final decision w/o flow numbers.
