I bought an engine stand, cherry picker, and load leveler as a set about 4 months ago.
The cherry picker is great (minus the cheap wheels), the load leveler is OK, but the engine stand is too cheap for my likings.
I tried to put a complete 455 on it and I never ended up letting the cherry picker all the way down. Too much flex for me.

Anyways... now it's an eyesore in my garage. It would probably be great for any Turbo V6 guys, or even a 455 short block. Definately would wotk great for you "early 60's" Aluminum V8 guys.
Or if you want to weld some braces and beef it up a little it would be fine, I'm sure.

    Anyways.....
$15 and it's yours, but you have to come get it (Ohio 44883)
Otherwise I'll rob the wheels off it and scrap the tubing, or throw it out back for future mods.

Guys the problem with these stands is easy to fix. It leans forward because there is to much slop where the leg fits into the base (where the big bolt is in the 1st pic). Simply drive a piece of sheetmetal in there and the problem is fixed. My brother and I have the same stand which had a fully dressed 455 on it with no leaning after the fix.

That will probably only solve about half the problem Chris.
I'm not impressed with the "fingers" or "back plate" either.
    It's certainly not "over-designed" :gt:

I've used the cheap Summit engine stands before.... which I thought were marginal at best. The Summit stands are built like brick sh1thouses compared to this one.

I would just GIVE it away... but the wheels themselves are worth the $15 to me. I could stick them under alot of things.

Hopefully Bruce plans to "beef it up" a little before using it.
    :TU:

I would do it myself since I work in a fab shop.....
But if you remember, about 3 months ago the boss decided no-one was allowed to do personal work there anymore.
    :( :af:

Gotcha Rick, I have seen the stands with the tiny fingers as well. I just thought the only problem was the leaning.
