It's ashame that the only cars willing to get hammered by the big buick are from japan. Can still be fun. This morning I was running late for work so I took the buick.:Brow:

I was just a short distance from home when a little blue car with a little hood scoop appeared in the rear view. I pulled up to the light and he pulls up next to me. Both lanes turning left, he was on the inside. I notice some letters like WRX sti or something like that. Well after the turn he is ahead of me a couple cars lenghts and hammers it. Im feeling frisky and wanting to strech my newest 1000 cfm carbs legs out. I jump on it and start doing the BBB tire burn hit second and to my suprise i'm not already past this little car! He's getting rubber with every speed shift. I finnally get traction and pour on the coals on past him by several car lengths by mid third gear.

That little car is now fried rice but I have to admit most SS or firebirds would get ate by this thing. Quick little car for sure. Maybe 13.5 or faster. I dont think its in the 12s but who knows.

Subaru WRX STi's have 300 HP engines and BIG hood scoops. Quarter mile times are in the 13.4 range.

They are quite common here. theres about a zillion different versions since '91 or when ever they came out. JDM imports have different spec too.

Theres a 220 BHP through to a 300 BHP selection, and they have 4x4 with powerlock in all three diffs. Most of the WRX are restricted to 280 BHP but can be taken above that easy (like 340 BHP)

They have a flat 4 like a VW Beetle and make a very distinctive sound. I kinda like them.

13.5 - 14.5 is about right stock depending on the BHP, and 0-60 is about 4.2 sec, with some tuning they make quicker times even than that. fastest I've seen one run at a strip was a 12.9 but theres plenty guys in the WRX club claiming 11s, but I never saw that, and its not been reported in any magazine I've seen over here.

They little cars have excellent traction and on the street they have an advantage (unless your city helpfully preps the traffic light areas for traction!) so I guess you can give yourself an extra pat on the back for that kill.

Theres a similar car from Mitsubishi called the Lancer EVO VIII. Just as quick. 0-60 in 4.1 in stock form. One of the older EVO VI's wasted me a while back.

I'm gonna get him one day... :)

they are nice cars, the STI is the one to beat.. they're all wheel drive, hence the reason he was getting traction no problemo while you're burning rubber ;) and they're also turbo charged, so imagine how easy it is to get those things faster.. just like a GN only newer heh... plus the moderness of DOHC and all that good stuff... they're fast cars, especially off the start with that all wheel drive. i believe the new Grand Am's are supposed to be all wheel drive, similar to the WRX and are supposed to sort of compete... but i don't think the Grand Am will have the nice heafty turbo either ;)
