Well....it's a rainy day. No workin on the Riv today.....so I figure it's time to start posting up the few pictures I do have and tell a little about what I've been doin.

Here's when i first got the 600 dollar gem home.

Now.....some of the things I'm doing here may be considered "unorthodox" or "sac-religious". Don't burn me too bad. A budget is a budget.....

The first thing I did was tear apart the top half of the engine. Lots of hot baths, polishing, seals and gaskets, etc etc.

Here's when I got her put back together. NEW: TA212 cam, 2 row Edelbrock timing chain, lifters, valve seals, heads polished.....you get the idea.

Next came some E-fans. Out of a early 2000s Buick. $25 at the junkyard!!

Started doing stuff like custom wires, a new coil, and a points eliminator kit.

Next came gutting her out. The original interior was BEAT!!! so it got pulled and I found a newer interior on CL for $100

    Couple Quick Photo updates

Here a couple more photos. As of right now.... I'm just waiting on a helping hand to get her started. As far as I know.... everything is ready. I've quadruple checked.....and then checked a few more times.

Still need to remove the hood too. But I can only imagine that if I try it solo....things will not go well.

Here's my temporary command center....until I get the center console built.

Getting lots done on the interior too...

    Before
    [IMG]

    After
    [IMG]

I think I've probably added about a mile of extra wire thus far. And 6 relays...... it's not the prettiest right now. Gonna loom it soon.

Keep up the good work. I am changing my interior over from a standard with a bench seat/column shifter to a deluxe interior with factory floorshift and console, although my bucket seats are from a Lincoln MKVII.
Are you going to stay with the gold paint, or do you have something else in mind? Later, Randy

I'm fairly certain that the gold isn't the stock color. The clear is peeling off all over and the door jambs and trunk were a green color.

I think that for a while....I'm most likely gonna be rolling around in a primer grey Rivi. After that....not sure. I'm starting to like the HotRod Flatz more and more. we'll see what happens when there's money for it though!

    Keep us posted :TU: !!

Post the info from the Body Number Plate if you want to know what the original colour of the car was.

Well.....I looked up the paint code (ZZ)

It seems that the gold is the original paint. Which is weird because the door jambs and trunk are an olive greenish color.

Regardless......not sure gold is my color. Thinkin about taking a factory color from that year and finding a HRF that closely matches.

But like I said....getting it on the road is top on the list. It's gonna be the primer grey land yacht for a while....

Don't feel bad......you guys would probably ban me from the board if you found out what I pulled an interior from!!!

First one to guess gets to yell at me.....

    Update!!

Got a lot of body work done. Still have to finish shaving the passender side door and the antenna hole.

Finally got the hood off too!!! Bent the hinges back to normal. Gonna do some welding on the hood while it's off. Contemplating having a fiberglass one made. since this thing is beat and heavy!

Looks good with all of the trim off of the bottom and around the wheel wells. That's what I did with mine and liked the look better. Are you going to smooth out the bottom where the trim was, where it looks a little wavy? Did you grind down the studs on the bottom of the doors where the trim attatched? I've already grinded the studs flush, but haven't smoothed out the bottom yet.

    Honda.

Thanks James, I really like those, a little expensive but they look nice. Is that what you have on your car in your avatar? I like the look of the fat white walls on my lowered riv w/shaved handles and hopefully steelies if I can find them

Yeah....all those studs are gound down. Still need to fill holes and smooth it all out though. Not Honda...... close though!

I do like those tires A LOT. 4 of them would cost more than I paid for the car though

    Maybe someday down the line!

No success Starting her yesterday. The battery has been on the charger all night. I'm gonna start fresh this morning.

You did run it for about 20 minutes between 1500 and 2000 rpm to break in the cam, didn't you? What did you use for break-in lube for the cam?
