I've ordered my service manual, but it's not here yet - so bear with me on this.
I'm replacing the factory sensors/lights with a new set of AutoMeter Guages. I've located the two sensors - one on the intake manifold, the other just above the oil pump - side engine - passenger side.
My stupid question? Which one is the Water temp?
If it's the one on top - I might be in trouble because the tubing isn't going to make it. :(
Hope someone out there can advise.
    It's a 70 Skylark 350.
    Thx - RR

The water temp sending unit is the one on top of the intake. If you were looking at the motor from the front of the car its to the left of the water neck. The one on the side of the block is the oil sending unit.

    Whew.
I thought so, but wanted to be sure before I proceeded.
    Thanks for the confirmation.

    autometer guages

do not use the plastic tubing that autometer includes for the oil pressure guage . buy the metal tubing kit that is available for the oil pressure line from sending unit to guage . the plastic lines do fail !

Having a WONDERFUL time trying to get the old oil sensor off. Let me guess - it's a special socket, right?

1-1/16" is on my car. I don't know if it's different on a 350. I used a deep well socket to get it off.

1-1/16th didn't grip - but vice grip and little patience did. It was worth it, though. Those factory sensors/lights are useless.
Looks kind of cool with that green backlight, too. :bglasses:

Yes that plastic tube is no fun when it comes lose while you are driving. Even worse than oiling down the track, is oiling down the interior of your car.
