Gotta 68 skylark, and i know in few differrent areas, where there are cars of similar build. looking for a perfect fit or replacement complete posi rear end. No mods needed besides general cleaning, what kinda of car or years should i be looking for ? Example, "out in the country areas of VA", know where a 64, 74 chevelle, a few El caminos and monte carlo's, and a few cutlass's are with the rears still in them, should i even consider them and take the time to look ? Espicially in question of the El camino's and 71-73 monte carlo's?

67-70 8.2 inch rear would bolt right in. It's possible the 67 rear is an inch narrower.
64-66 used different spring mounts, but can be made to work.
71-72 8.5 inch would require the driveshaft be shortened.
Chevy rears would require a conversion u-joint.
I hear 70-72 Monte Carlo's had 12 bolt rears. Gotta shorten the drivshaft for them too.

    *some 70-72 Monte's had 12 bolts.... most were a 8.5 10 bolt

not sure, but it's possible. If so, the difference would be in the tubes. The trailing arms are mounted in the same location.

Just some quick notes here, I replaced the 8.2 in my `65 Skylark with a 12 bolt out of a `70 Chevelle and I did not have to shorten my driveshaft. Chevelle/Monte Carlo/El Camino use the same rearend.
