Got one of these under each side of the dash. Has Orange and yellow wires, doesn't show up in the wiring diagram, also isn't plugged up......o No:
No, I have the underdash lights, they are in place and working, which is the reason I don't know what these are for...
I'm guessing here but a few cars came with an option described as upper dash AC, or similar. Couple fans in the air vents of a non- AC car with a switch mounted in the upper horizontal part of the radio bezel, facing down. Fans brought in fresh air to the dash vents. One on each side confirms two loads, two fans. No sign of any Orange/yellow connector set-ups in the '71 chassis manual. Fellow mwmber here discussed this same option a few months back. Believe he was looking for the radio bezel.
All I know is I have one dangling on the Riv on the Driver side, I've never gone looking on the passanger side, I always assumed it was for the power seat locks...
Can you trace the wires back at all? Trevor reminded me of something... On a notchback seat, the option of an automatic latch that would engage when the door was opened, so you would not have to push a button to fold the front seat forward. All you had to do was push it foarward. When the door closed, a solenoid closed the seat latch again. Could this be a connector that went to the door jamb switch?
Nope The speed alert is a single wire, the trunk release is too. However, I like this game, so I am going to get my books from the garage  More later , if I can find anything. Question: Did the car possibly have the"MaxTrac" option???? :Smarty:
Adam wins (I think) On page 120-148 of the 71 chassis manual. You will see that the seat back release uses a door jamb switch with 2 wires - yellow and orange. It appears that it may have been a separate switch since the regular wiring used a single white wire that gets grounded at the jamb. That would explain why your lights still work. Question: did the car come from the factory with power door locks?
It has power windows and locks, I have to assume it came with them, but somebody added the air so ????o No:
