All those dang points eliminators eliminate is reliability. It will not kill a person to check the dwell every once in a while. :Dou:

If you want reliability, put the points back in. :Smarty:

    how would my timing jump?

the distributor may have broken a tooth or somthing to make it do that?

The upper cam gear of your timing chain is made of plastic teeth from the factory. Over time, those plastic teeth become brittle and fall off. That leaves the chain very sloppy. If the chain jumped a few teeth, the car wouldnt start.

Did we diagnose what the problem is yet?

so i finally looked into the problem and this is how i solved it.

took out plug #1: no saprk when cranked

took off coil wire at distributor and held it near a pice of metal: sprak! when cranked.

plugged it back on...car wouldnt turn.....What the ef??!!

so i looked around while it was cranking and head the spark...it was grounding on a bracket!!!!!

there was a section that was exposed and was letting the spark out onto the bracket which prohibited it from reaching the distributor....go figure!

replaced it, as well as all the other wires and now she runs like a champ!!

thanks a whole lot guys, i cant tell you how much i appreciate youre concern.
