Ok, I've got a '66 Skylark convertible. It's got A/C, st300 trans, 340-4 engine. I've just replaced all front and rear suspension bushings/shocks/springs. I would like to know where I can find the original ride height specifications. The front seems to be riding a bit high, and I would like to compare with GM measurements.

    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,

    Hey Yancy,

I looked through my chassis manual and my shop manual for 67...I cannot figure it out...at least I tried! I am on my 3rd spring install in 60 days. I think we finally got this one right. I like a slight forward rake on cars. Gives it a nice stance. Front higher then rear, not so good. Good luck.

Chassis Manual should have relevant info.. Not sure if these are available for '67.
The '71 edition shows slight differences between Skylark & GS. Measurements for this year are taken from bottom edge of rocker panel & the lower lip of the wheel wells.
Ex. Skylark 10.25" bottom rocker behind front wheel, GS 9.75".
Later ride height publications ( Carquest Oct. 2000) give only a general range.
Ex. Skylark '72-71 ALL 9.5 - 11.0", bottom of rocker behind front wheel.
Splitting hairs a bit but can be a bit frustrating finding the right springs for the car.
I put a new pair of 5398 on mine last year, per Detroit Eaton. Front is down by a good 1".
I have a set of 5386 to try in the Spring. The Moog spring rate application guide tells me this should work.

Thanks for your help! I'll keep trying - but with every spring change I have the front end alignment checked - and this is getting expensive!

Anyone have a chassis manual for a '66? If so, would you mind researching the front/rear ride height?
