Hi guys, I have one converter left over from the original converter program. It is a STG 2 9.5" converter that originally sold for $629. This is the converter we built for 550-650 HP street strip cars. Big block GS's, full weight 3 series gears ect.. This has been my most common street/strip converter- stall is 3400- 3600 rpm, but it's built tight, so it will drive fairly normally at light throttle. Just loose enough to soak up some cam lope, not so loose as to be an issue under normal driving. The only reason I have this, is because the guy that bought it originally decided to go drag racing only with his new ride, so we put him in a 4500 stall converter. My current converters all have billet end housings on them, and the current price for this unit would be $669, if built in the new program. Clearance price.. $539.00 + shipping Thanks JW
I'm interested Jim. What are your thoughts on this converter vs. a 10" behind a 500hp 464 with an old KB 107 cam and 3.73 gears. Car is a full weight 65 Skylark.
In a street/strip application, it would be the one I would build for it.. for full out drag race, you might a bit more stall. JW
Jim I will take it if you think it will work for my build. Here is the link to my build http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?275624-Which-quick-fuel-carb It has 3.42 gears turbo 400 transmission.
Hi Dave, Nope, it was actually someone else.. username Machinefarmer, out in central MN. He has the second copy of Larry H's motor that he's putting in a 68 GS Cali race car, that he picked up off the board here.. nice unit, should be fun when he gets it all together. Your original one was actually a STG 1 unit, and that one was refurbished and went to a guy out west a while back. Got your new one in yet? JW
