Ok, looked through the threads but couldn't find a complete answer. Want to use black steelies with dog dish caps and want ones that fit with a 69 12 bolt. Either 255x60x15 or 275x60x15 tires and want to know the back spacing needed. Looks like Wheel Vintiques 62 series wheels are 4.25 back spacing for 15x7 and should fit? :Do No: Now the question for 15x8......... who makes a 5" back space? Don't see it in the Wheel Vintiques listing. Wheel wells are original and don't want to cut them. Any other sources besides Wheel Vintiques?
    Suggestions/Advice are appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Scott,
I have the wheel vintiques series 62, 15x7 with a 4.25 backspacing running 255x60x15s on the rear and have plently of room and love the way it tucks. Also running 235x60x15s in the front with 15x7s.[IMG]

    Justin,
Thanks for the reply. Was concerned for a 69 as the wheel wells are a bit tighter than 70-72. Am thinking they should fit there as well, but wanted to check.

    Much appreciated. :TU:

I was afraid of that :Dou: I am not too familiar with the 69s. Good luck! :beers2:

stockton wheel whipped up a set of 15x10 with a 51/2 for my 295-70s on my 70 they did it in 3 days 5 shipped and they were pretty resonable.

You guys are going to give him wheel well envy LOL! I also have the 15x10 wheels with huge tires on my 70.

Fireball, the best way to do this is to spend some time measuring your wheel wells... Find out what backspace you need to center the wheel in the wheel well. I would go with a 15x7 with the 255x60-15 as the 275 would be a tight fit.

I have the series 62 on my 69. 15x7 front with stock backspacing and 15x8 with custom 5" back space. The 275-60/15's fit just fine, not even close to rubbing. I'm running a 10 bolt 8.5 rear if that makes any difference.

What did you end up for back spacing? I have been trying to get answers and pictures to see the clearances with what people are running on their 68/69s. I am hoping to squeeze a set of 295 55 15 MT street slicks with minimal cutting. Just want advice before I start spending!

Hi there, my advice would be to get the same 62 series wheels as James P with a 5 inch backspace. Install the rims without a tire and measure around to see how large of a tire you can fit. It would be a tight fit but the 295/55/15 is a nasty looking street tire. I measure 12.2" section width and 28" diameter off my MT tires this size.

Just so you can see how they look here is my tire of the same size on a 15x10 wheel. As you should know by now the 68 and 69 have a little less space than the 70-72. The good news is people have fit 325/50/15 on the 70-72 larks so you might be able to squeeze the 295/55/15 in your car.
