Will the Starwars Air Cleaner that come from a 455 V8 Buick engine fie on a 300 V8 or 350 V8 buick engine ?
Without an adapter, yes. But they do make air cleaner adapters that would make it fit almost anything. Heres a 2 to 4 adapter... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Two-Barrel-Air-Cleaner-Adapter-2-5-8-Carburetor-size-to-5-1-8-Air-Cleaner-Size-/290776744493?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b3a5022d&vxp=mtr With this kit you could run one on a 22R Toyota pickup... http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADAPTER-HOLLEY-AIR-CLEANER-FILTER-KIT-FOR-TOYOTA-22R-22-R-CARBURETOR-5-1-8-/170838032221?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27c6bd7f5d&vxp=mtr
I have a Star Wars AC I've put on my 2bbl 340, I used the base from the stock 2bbl air cleaner and filter, it sits a little higher and I had to ad a longer hold down screw, but it looks good. will soon have a 4bbl though
For what you'll pay for a decent SW air cleaner, you'd be miles ahead putting that cash towards the performance improvements you ask about in your other thread.
The Star Wars air cleaner was only made in 1967 for the 400cid and 430cid engines which went into the GS models of that year. The California emissions models had the extra pipe in the base for the AIR smog system. Unless you can find a really nice one with the correct hookups for your engine, the money is better spent on performance mods...as other boards members attest. I've only seen one correct setup which would fit my engine, and it was mega expensive, and gone before I could even consider trying for it. They look cool as a dress item, but that's about it.
The Star Wars air cleaner was a 'one-year-only' Buick part found on '67 GS 400s, and '67 Riviera GS 430s, as Len stated. While it's not period correct for a '68 Riviera, it sure draws a lot of attention with an open hood, and those headlights aimed skyward. They are not cheap, (. . . depending on condition), but they sure do look purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrty (. . . IMHO) !! :TU:
