That was what I did, then I used a feeler gauge to make sure it was making contact with the heads at water ports and the top of the head where the intake attaches. That valley pan will lift the intake up some and when you add that composite gasket that lifts it even more.
I'm interested to hear what happens as my first thought was intake leak due to gasket issue. I would go with steel and test fit and check front and back as gaps usually larger needing additional RTV especially in corners.
