I was wiring the ignition wire to the starter like it should be, it was connected to the fuse box, but in the process when I started it up, there was a spark and the battery cable flamed up.

What are the odds of me screwing up my solenoid and/or starter??

I'm not aware of any wire from the fuse block to the starter. The only wires that go to the starter are, the + battery cable, the feed wires with fusible links, the solenoid wire ("S"), and the resistance bypass wire ("R") Battery current will fry a small wire in a heartbeat. Lucky you didn't start a fire. You probably didn't damage anything, except that wire.

Your right, thinkfully I didn't do any damage other than I needed to replace a battery cable... Thanks for that info Larry, are you the resident guru. This is my only car right now, thanks to a now ex-friend totaling it. So when I saw the small fire I was like %&^*&#$)&*!!!!!! lol

This car needs some work, I really need to start with the frame a work my way up, but that will happen in time..
