    Hi All,

I need BOTH sheilds for the starter on my 70 GSX, the starter heat sheild AND the wiring harness heat sheild. I just received my assembly manual and I've been studying it to find all the little things I need in order to get the car back into correct condition.

** Picture attached of the wiring harness sheild.

So, if you have either or both of these I'd like to hear from you!

    Thanks

Wait a minute, I'm going to have to make sure I have 2 of those, because Rob asked first. I'm sure I do but let me look.

    Jarrod,

That looks like one piece of the wiring sheild, but the manual page that I posted seems to me to indicate that there is actaully 2 pieces that go together to cover the wires.

I may be wrong so please clarify for me anyone. I would need the complete assembly with both pieces if that's correct.

Thanks for the help so far....we're getting closer!

Yes but that plastic sheath is part of the original starter cable. It's molded onto it. If you are using and aftermarket starter cable than you won't have it. It only comes on original ones.

Has anyone ever split the plastic sheating to reuse on a replacement battery cable and if so how did you go about it. I have the an original that i bought for my project, metal holder, plastic sheating and the cut I assume original battery cable. I was thinking about using my dremel to split the plastic down the center and use the two halves on a new cable. Just looking for input from others before I do this since its a one shot deal.

Replace the end that attaches to the starter?

I have enventually got to do the same thing. I had figured I would cut the terminal off the end that attaches to the starter and then feed the cable through the block and then get a new terminal installed. Thats as far as I have got is just thinking about it...
Perhaps someone will chime in that has already done this.

    fast-gs what to do now?

yes i reuse them all the time, just cut one end of the old cable off and pull the old cable out. then slice the bottom out and install the cable. the repo cables are a bigger gauge wire. so it wont fit through the original hole.

    Jarrod,

Sorry I've not gotten back to you. If someone else can use the sheild you have then please let them have it. If that doesn't work then I will put myself in the back of the line as I did find another one as well.

Again, sorry for the confusion on my part and let Iggy have it at this time.

    Thanks,

    Rob
