Starter hook-up

Hi,

I know where the big wires go on the starter, but there are two smaller wires. One is slightly larger gauge than the other. Which one goes to the "S" post and which to the "R" post? o No:

Dumb question, but hey, better a shot to the ego than learning the hard way.

Thanks, I'll try it, even though I'm not sure I have a yellow wire.It may have a yellow stripe, though. But if I can identify a purple one, then the other must be for the "R".

if you get the 2 reversed,it wont do anything,no click no nuthin but it wont damage anything either purple goes to s term.(switch,ign)

 

You can test the wires with a test light. I am pretty sure the S is for the exciter wire that activates the starter (or turns on test light) when the key is turned.
