early on when I didn't know much (no, not just last week...) I exchanged my starter without counting the teeth on the old one. the "new" one that I've had on my 350 in the jeep really grinds and squeals when it tries to start up from day 1. thought it was a shim problem so I left it for later adjustment. 3 years later I'm finally getting to it, and the shims don't help, in fact some addt'l shimming makes it worse. There is no metal in the tranny cover or anything. wondering what the correct starter pn# would be. is there a diff in tooth count between jeep flexplates vs std buick passenger car? motor is a from a 73 century
