    Been thinking

Whatever happened to those aluminum repro air cleaners? I would love to get one or even an orginal to 3D Scan and possibly print out as a cheaper alternative.

My GS400 has been needing one.

There's an aluminum one on CL. As far as 3D scanning. It would take a lot of work to do and would likely require a bit more CAD work to align a few things. I am in the process on designing an air cleaner for my 70 Riviera.

I work with all sorts of fun tools like 3D scanners and CAD as well. I might give it a shot. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the aluminum ones as well. They just have been getting an extra pricy.
Any chance you can share the CL link for the aluminum one?

I went searching for it again, it did not come up. Listing probably expired. It was in rough condition, they wanted ~$600! Nope! Going to assume too many people remember them being $400 on ebay unfinished.

Looks like it was sold on eBay for much less! So the CL list ad should have been deleted by the time I mentioned it.

Fwiw. The originals are not selling like the ads would have you believe:

This last one is very deceptive, it did NOT sell. It is re-listed and the guy is a little fishy, his price now $1000. The damage is more severe than the sneeky pictures show. I offered him $500, even with his bluster about the knob being worth $500 itself.

What is a fair price for a good condition Star Wars air cleaner with base, no knob?
