Looking for a drivers side stainless top arching rear quarter window trim piece for my 68 GS California.
I would reach out to Cole and see if he has one? his user name here is cole. Welcome fellow GS Cal owner!
Are you talking about the back glass trim, drivers side upper that makes the side and top half? If so I have a nice one and do ship.
No. I’m talking about the drivers side rear quarter window top arch piece (see photo). For a thin pillar/post model.
I think that's a (somewhat) optional anodized aluminum bit? Did you try Cole? I think that was under W on the order sheet. All the GS Cal cars have it, but if you're looking at a Special Deluxe, it may not.
Yes sent him a message. Have not heard back yet. I mentioned the special deluxe just because it could possibly have the bright trim as well. I have the original window sticker for my car and it is W11 W6 listed as custom bright exterior moldings- door window, center pillar scalps & rear quarter window scalp.
Thanks. I checked the photos and one seems to show your car has the passenger rear trim piece I need. Can’t see the condition since open door partially blocks it. May also be painted white, can’t tell. This is a pic of the damaged piece on my car. If you could check the condition on your car piece and send a pic I would very much appreciate it.
Just to be clear, that bit isn't stainless, it's anodized aluminum. So rehabing it isn't as simple as buffing it up. I have been told that some people shoot clear on it. Apparently re-doing the anodization is big $.
I heard the same thing about anodizing. I’ll just need to keep searching for a clean non damaged piece.
I kind of wonder about removing and installing these bits too. They seem kind of fragile and easy to F up. I wish Adam would make a video...
I have the service body manual. To remove the top piece I need, you have to remove the upper glass run channel which is held in by a few screws. Once channel is out you can see the inside lip of the trim piece and carefully pull it down from the inside. It just has a small crimped edge holding it on similar to the roof drip rails.
