That's what the math would suggest for sure. I think with a little more digging I can find a few more mph. Gonna fab up an air pan setup this weekend and hopefully find a little there. I'm also contemplating trying some 315's later to see how it reacts with more rollout and less rpm thru the traps
Don't sell the SP2 short we just went 8.96 with a ported SP2! You've got lots of room to grow with that manifold!
Do yourself a favor. Only one change at a time. Few things tho. New plugs each trip to the track. Run control arms loose with locking nuts, antisieze on bushings. Cool the intake before each pass. Make sure to cool engine before each pass. 120 water temp at line. Suspension then test Carb then test Dist weights and springs then test Small shock setting changes then test Stock control arms and rear sway bar are fine, dont waste money Good double adjustables are critical Front spoiler worth a tenth, get one with the baffle Elect fan and water pump and boom, another tenth Lower the front end, yours is too high And I have lots more. Just be careful. If you listen to everyone, it will cost you.
To bad all the tracks here you only get 2 time trials. 3 if you are really lucky. So about 3 months to get it set up right. ou:
Yes that was an amazing weekend for sure. I always had a blast at Reynolds good memories for sure. Thanks for all your past and future help Jim, I'm taking notes...
Most all tracks have test and tune weekly. True, sometimes its a slow process, it takes time. Believe me I know. But it can be worth it.
Is the SP2 matched to the TE heads? I didnt think they could be? Trust me, put a front spoiler and baffle on it. I bet the car has .40's in it in great weather.
Ordered mine Friday, from TPP its just the GSX front spoiler, helps to move some of the air around the car instead of under it
What tires are you running on the rear? I am running 295/65/15 MT drag radials on a 15x8 wheel and destroyed them through most of 1st gear. I have only made 2 passes with my car and 60' was horrible 2.03 My suspension is stock front arms with poly bushings and sway bar. The rear has adjustable uppers boxed lowers and an HR bar. Pinion angle was way off at +6. (if that really makes a difference.) Pinion is -2 now and the front sway bar is gone but have not been back to the track. I am planning on going with the Global west bushing up front and changing to a diff spring.
Yea they are , the intake gasket is a little to thick so alignment is just a little off not terrible tho
You were just on a terrible track sounds like. I have went consistent 1.50s on 100% untouched suspension Front and rear. Typical of test and tune nights at most tracks. Also on the Drag radials don't go under 20lbs I have my best results at 22lb and don't heat them up much past 5sec any more than that and they just get greasy. I currently have 325/50 MRs on a 10in rim. Which I would recommend you got to a 10in rim also you have to stretch a radial tire to make it work.
No gauge? Reason I ask is this.. depending on what DA your runnng at, your MPH is a bit low for the ET/60'.. those are fine for a car at that weight, but you mentioned it lays down farther down the track in high gear. This is not a jetting issue, it's more likely an issue of keeping the bowls full on the carb. I agree that you have all the right stuff to make it work, but I have seen plenty of cars that had the right parts, but an issue that did not allow them to function as they should. You need a minimum of 4 psi in the traps. I would agree the SP-2 is still usable at your power level, as was stated, look elsewhere. 750 HP on a 500+ cube motor is where you really have to start hogging out the SP-2. But Dave did it, is possible, but not really cost effective. I do have the intake adapter plates, for Mopar EFI manifolds and the bigger Mopar stuff. The Indy 440-2 and Edelbrock Victor are comparable in size to the SPX, but whole hell of a lot easier to get to fit. But your not there yet.. JW
