Hello all, im new to this site. I just recently bought a 67 buick special with a 225 v6 and a 2spd ST-300 transmission. I wasted no time finding a v-8 for it, which is a 310 wildcat with a ST-300 trans out of a 65 buick skylark. (Which is on its way to recieving a 283 chevy right before it sees heaven, since its going into a demo derby) I plan on keeping the v6 in my car for awhile, so I can clean up the 310 and whatnot. My question is which trans will be better for my car when the v8 goes in? They both seem to run fine. I've read some things which makes me believe that the v-6 and v8 st-300's were different. Also, are the ST-300's pretty much powerglides for the BOP's? I've read it boths ways, yes and no. (confusing!) And finally, when Im all said and done with my swaps, how much do st-300's normally sell for? Thanks for any info, much appreciated.

    1. Nice find!
    2. Also a good deal to put the 310 in should be no problem, except for the fan shroud.
    3. The convertor for the v-6 is the loosest one they had for the ST300. It will bolt right up and will have a higher stall than the v-8 convertor. Try it, if it doesn't work put the v-8's transmission in there. Study the switch pitch system, get it working, happiness to follow. :TU: Plenty of posts on that, just search for switch pitch.
ST300's is its own deal, very little if anything is common with powerglide.
Not worth a whole lot, but the v-6 convertor is worth selling as a core.
