    Rich,

I spoke to a local vendor sourcing the various components, including the MotoTron ECU and the Windows analysis pack (which is API compliant if you want to write your own modifications!).

40lbs/hr Injectors, Fuel press Regulator, O2 sensor, idle air, 1000CFM throttle body, distrib kit, fuel rails, throttle position sesor, MAF, and fuel pump came in (shipped) at $912 USD.

$375 for the intake, $30 shipping, $60 for rail modification & welding from my fab shop.

The intake and ECU are now at half the price of my previous quote. Coming in uder the 2k mark was the boundary for my application.

Not a complete list, but going 2-300 overbudget should put this in reach. Is there anything big there I missed? Maybe there's another level of insanity to consider?

    Thanks Clint,

That's exactly what I was after. I'll have to do the math on the injectors, and I don't need the fuel pump or the intake..... The price is making it something to consider for sure.....

Thanks again for the info, I'll keep you posted. or may PM you off line wit other questions.

    John,

Nope, street motor, so we were not overly concerned with the EGT stuff. I should buy a set of dyno headers to do these motors with, right now I try and use the exact header that will be in the car, but typically it's the TA header anyway.. so I could get a set and weld in the bungs and start taking those readings, just for conversation if no other reason.

As soon as Scotty can come up with one, George's new carb will be on the way. He is getting ready for BG now. I am thinking I may get an EGT gauge for George's car, just to verify that it has all the fuel it wants down track. After watching your dad pull away from me from 900 ft on, I am begining to wonder if the fuel pressure gauge is lying to me.. Or maybe it is just the 250-300 lbs difference between the two cars..

What's yours weigh with your dad in it?

    Jim,

Our car last year with the Stg2 engine, 3 gallons of fuel and NO driver was right at 2600 lbs. With dad in the car dressed with helmet it is almost exactly 2800 lbs. With the Stg 1 engine the car went 2850 with driver. Over the winter we added items like the parachute with mounting brackets, vacuum pump and the external oil pump. The crankshaft is also heavier than the Stg2 engine. So I have to guess the car with driver right now is around 2850 or maybe a touch under.

If we make it to BG and you guys are there you are more than welcome to borrow my EGT meter. All you would need to do is drill an .125 hole in one of the header tubes for the sensor. Let me know.

Wow.. thats 310 lbs different, so I am sure that's part of the issue..

Welp, if I get ahold of the car, you know where the steel doors and front clip will end up..

George will be there, but I won't, can't take the time out of the shop, but I will let him know..

    Thanks

    Jim,

An extra 310 lbs is a bunch of weight to try and carry down the track. Our car still has the steel doors and front clip. I remember putting the gutted doors back on our car and thinking... these things are still heavy. I would venture to say someone could save 100 to 150 by going to fiberglass doors. I dont know if changing the front clip to fiberglass is worth the effort. Back when we had the Poncho we put fiberglass fenders on the car and only saved 7 lbs per fender. Not hardly worth the effort!

    John,

Front clip on Sweesy's car weights 97 lbs... ya, I know, hard to believe, but the scales don't lie..

That car could go on about a 150-175 lbs diet with the glass doors and clip..

If I get ahold of it in the future, that will happen, and then we will just have to build more HP to deal with the 3000 lbs weight.. hint.. I won't be needing the hood scoop..

You can prolly figure that one out..
