So does anyone out there have any experience in getting a power tailgate window down from the inside? Maybe a suggestion as to which bolts to remove to drop the window? I can get access pretty much from the inside but can't really see what I need to remove to get the window down. Anyone... anyone...?

    Thanks.

    I am working on a 66 Sporty. wag 224 (115).JPG

Yes, I do, I had the same problem to work through. If you have a Fisher body manual you can figure it out. Or I will gladly tell you all about it if you will call me, I don't type well enough to post it all here. seven four zero, five three three, zero two four zero.

Be Careful! those arms attached to the motor are spring loaded- finger danger.

Thanks for the tips. I haven't had much time to mess with it lately. I may give you a call next week to get your input. Thanks for the offer.

OK well thanks for the offer but I worked on it yesterday. Here is how I did it for anyone else that may be up against the same problem.

First I took out all 23 yes twenty three screws that held on the access panel. That allowed access to two panels behind that. I took those off and was able to gain easy access to the four bolts that mount the window to the motor. Two on each side at the top of the gate. The window mounts there 7/16 bolts if you care. Very simple actually. I got lucky and my motor wasn't locked up so I lowered it and dropped the window. I started to drop the window before I lowered the motor and it appeared that you could lower the window without a working motor. Much easier than worrying about a spring loaded finger remover. Anyway that was my experience. One tip though for removing the bottom row of ELEVEN screws. It is very tight. I tried a right angle screw driver but it was too tight. I ended up using a standard 1/4 phillips tip and a 1/4 wrench. Long process but it worked out great.

Found some good treasures in the storage area including a couple 1973 NY Times newspapers.:Brow:
