I tried searching the forum but really haven't found what I specifically looking for. Just got my car back from paint and going from a chrome mirror driver side only to sport mirrors. Tried attaching the driver side mirror but not sure if I have the correct wedge gasket. Could of swore I had two gaskets but only found one gasket, so I could be trying to attach the driver side mirror with a passenger side wedge gasket. Does the thick part of the gasket face down or up? What are the part numbers for the mirrors? So I verify they are correct (thought I did this already). Part number for wedge gaskets. And where can I get them if I can't find my other one. The gasket I have had a nub on the back that fit into one of the holes so it only would go one way on the car, but mirror sit at awkward angle. Sorry so many questions in one paragraph.

The original 70-72 Buick gaskets were the same for driver & passenger sides. They simply turned one side over for the other side.

I did an article about all the correct mirror parts, maybe someone can post a link to it.

Did the thick part go up or down? I know there was an article but I didn't seem to find it.

Another thing that people may not think about is the inside the door skin 'brace' that gives the mirror structural support. Look inside the driver's side and you'll see what I'm talking about. It is welded on the driver's side, but held on by a pop rivet on cars with ORIGINAL passenger side mirrors from the factory... I've gotten these braces from other cars in the junkyard...

alright I checked mirrors and they have the correct numbers showing they are Buick sport mirrors. I attached pics of my door with arrows pointing to the only 2 holes that line up and the gasket and bracket bolted on, but it doesn't line up with the big hole in the middle. Is that right?

I don't know what you are using but those are not the correct gaskets.

The originals do not have a raised lip on them.

It's what came with the sport mirror when I bought it.

I 3D print ABS gaskets that will work. They are no OEM but they work with the correct angle for the mirrors.
