The guy claims that his throttle got stuck at WOT while doing 20mph in 3rd gear and ran up to 80mph so fast that he couldn't do anything.

Sounds like someone couldn't admit to losing it. 80 MPH? He would have shot straight thru that garage like a hot knife thru butter. :Dou:

This is a neighbour of a guy on another forum. The guy driving has had his licence revoked.

Anyone guess what the car is?

I read his story on a ricer forum that he belongs to and he never should have been in third gear in a residential area.I think he was going a little too fast and didnt have his car.I say he gets what he deserves what would have happened if there were children in front of that house.

I'm with Adam...a "stuck throttle" on a new car?!?!?!?

Reminda me of those old "CHiPs" shows, where somebody would drive through a water puddle, throw up their hands and scream as they drove over a cliff and started a 50-car pileup...sheesh.

Take you foot off the gas!!! :spank:

Does anyone else think it odd that the airbags didn't deploy????

I do think its odd that the airbags didnt deploy but some cars both frame rails have to have an impact. But im still surprised in a Subaru no airbags went on.

Looks like a Volvo in the UK

There was a recall on a throttle piece and he said that he didn't even know about the recall. The thing that gets me is that he accelerated so fast from 20 to 80mph that he couldn't do anything about it.

OK, now I'm guessing it's a manual tranny. If so, would it go from 20 to 80 in third gear alone, without shifting :Do No:, That would be some high revs I would think. Again, even with the throttle stuck at WOT, the brake will still slow you down some. Not quickly, but still will slow you down. And yes there is still the option, TURN IT OFF You will loose the power stearing and brakes, but the motor power too. Just my thoughts.

Ok 42 pages is too much for me to read..I got thru 16.

What a bunch of crap. The owner of the home he barreled through saw the thread and posted a message for herself.

At that speed not only would he go through the garage, but the car would have more damage. Most people I know know enough to turn off the ignition - but then again they also know enough not to put a huge wing on the back of a car.

That's easy! Whennnnn Youuuuu arrrrrrrrre slooooooowwwwwww, it takesssssss timmmmmeeee forrrrrrr yoooouuuuuurrrrr brrrrrraaaaaiiiiiinnnnnn ttttoooo rrreeeeeaaaaccccccttttttt.........

Which also explains the wing and fart can. Simple, no? :Smarty: :Brow:

    ----------------------------------------

But I love the discussion about turning off the engine and "losing steering and brakes" - NOT!!! Especially in a stickshift car, the engine would keep turning and you'd have power steering and tons of vacuum for brakes. And even if you clutched it or had an auto and the engine stopped dead, you've still got vacuum reserves for 2-4 applications of the brakes, and you don't need power steering if you're moving. Heck, new cars only use power steering at parking speeds anyway. Not to rant on this, but I had to explain all this to my mother-in-law the other night...she had it in her mind that if you turned off the ignition, you'd have NO brakes or steering... :spank:

The wing and fart can are stock though on that car.

Yup, although I've bookmarked the thread to check back on, just curious what'll happen to the little leadfoot. Personally, I think some "community service hours" spent rebuilding the garage and fences would be fitting. And they need to wait until it's snowing or raining...punk.

Did ya notice the house next door?

Look in picture #7 - notice the house next door is for sale?

I'd like to hear that conversation:

Man & wife: "...well, we really like the house but what happened at the neighbors'?"

    Real estate agent: "....uhm....."
