i am making my 70 skylark into a cruising machine for around town, and for the longer highway trips as well. will spoilers help my drivability at all at high speeds (i.e. highway speed 60-90ish)? i am already changing in yearone's front lowering springs when i put in the a fresh 455 this winter. these should help some, but will a front spoiler help as well, and how much? also, should i take the rear end air shocks down with the front lowering springs? if so, how much? and will a rear spoiler help for good highway manners as well? thanks
Your Buick has the aerodynamics of a brick. The stock GSX type spoilers, front and rear, were designed to actually have benefit for the vehicle.
A brick:stmad: How dare you! The next thing you know you will say the spoiler makes the rear end look fat. I am going to have to hide this post from my X so it won't have to go into therapy. I doubt you can feel the effects of the spoilers at highway speeds. Far more important to get the suspension dialed in. I drove mine around for a bit without the spoiler and could feel no difference. Want to make a big improvement dump the air shocks.
Here is another thought, If you are lowering the front end I don't think a front spoiler is going to do you any good. They sit pretty low with the regular suspension, so you will probably end up ripping it off getting into some parking lot. Duane
