    Nice

    Cole,
What size tire are you going to mount?
    What backspacing did you get?
Will you update us on the clearances that you get?
    Thanks!

Still kicking around the tire sizes, but have got it down to two options.

P245-60R-15 on the fronts either way.

    Rear either P275-60R-15
    or P295-50R-15

I like the idea of the P295 just because it's more meat, looks cool, and it is virtually the identical tire diameter to the P245 fronts.

Downside of the P295 is that it is maxing out on the 8" rim, and may "bulge out" a little more than I'd like.

The 15x8 rims have 4-1/2" BS, and from everything I've heard and read, should center the tires nicely in the wheelwell of my '70 GS. Unfortunately, when I ordered these I thought I'd be further along on my car than I am (full frame-off restoration). It may be a while yet before I'll be able to share good pics of the tires mounted in the wheel well.......I will be able to shoot them on a lift though, so the pics should be worth it!

  5. Cole, they look great! Are you planning on getting to the July 10 gathering that Chris has posted about? I don't suppose your car will be ready yet though. I'm planning on driving the 68 out there, if all goes according to plan. Might drive out Friday afternoon to Burnsville, or early Sat am.

Car definitely won't be ready by then:ball: , but we're hoping to get there anyway. Only issue is that I'm driving my daughter to Redwood Falls that day for a week long dance camp, so it depends on what kind of time I can make!

    Later!

Cole you are correct in that a 4 1/2" backspace will center your rim, however your axle is not centered in your wheelwell so you need to add the difference onto your backspace.
The 295's will not fit in your Skylark's wheelwell with a 4 1/2" backspace, you need at least a 5 1/4" to fit that tire with no modifications to your wheelwell.
I have just got my 295/50 on my Specailty Wheel rims that are 15X8 with a 5 1/2" backspace and they fit great. I could probably have gone with a 5 1/4" back space too!

WOW!!! Those look sharp, and I had no idea you could get a set with the backspacing to fit your car.

How much did your set cost? with shipping..

I have been looking at getting the smooth wheel look from a set of original centerlines, BUT, I cannot get the backspacing I want, is there anyone out there who can customize these for me?
If so, how much does it cost to do a rear set?

Bruce, you are SUCH a funny guy!:Dou:

The wheels were $135 each, and then there was $50 shipping for the pair. They look perfect.

I HAVE to correct my above post, my 15X8 rims HAVE a 5" backspace not 5 1/2".
    Sorry for the error!

How does a guy get in contact with Specialty Wheel? What's the time frame on a set of wheels like the ones in this thread?

    Thanks,
    Jacob

Jacob - You'll can reach them at www.specialtywheel.com or call them at 1-800-281-2819. The lead time varies.....I was in no hurry and told them that, so it was about 8 weeks. I think they can do them in 3 to 4 weeks, maybe less. Call them and they can tell you exactly what the current lead time is.
