Here Del, you can barely see the carb under base.
I think L88 bases are a full 3-1/2" drop.

heads off , walls and oem hi comp pistons look ok .
today might be - trans linkage , trans mount , driveshaft off , see how much tranny oil i can leak on floor .

Put a drain plug in your trans pan so you won't spill and make a big red mess.....

But yeah , quick drain good idea .

NOW ! we are having fun .
nothing better than being 70+ and laying on cold concrete , yankin' around an engine and tranny .
not toooo bad - only minor oil and coolant leakage .

 

Wait till you start leaning over the fenders to put those heads back on....

 

I am with ya and I just ca't wait to do the same lol I feel cold already

 

No leaning , I stand right in front of K frame . Set head so I can reach it from there . Yankin the torque wrench is maybe a little bigger pain .
Next - gotta get the trans and Lakewood off the block and take some pics with shifter and linkage etc .
