is eneyone running this combo? i made a flat top for my 3'' drop air cleaner so it fits under the hood. i will remove it when i race, will the carb being so close to the hood out way the benifits of the spacer? i know that running a stage 2 scoop on a skylark hood would be best, but i want to stay stock as possible.

Well i new i wouldnt be able to sleep, so sence i still had my slicks on i went for a test drive, it really flet strong all the way past 6000 rpm, but the secondarays on my Qjet were a little to loose so it was boging of the line, after a little adjustment, on the first launch it really surprised me!!!! I left about 50 feet of rubber, before my cold slicks would only break loose a little, so i will just wait to see if it make a improvement at the track, hoping for 12.10-12-2's now.

    Kelly,

I run a dominator on an SP1 intake with a 1/2" spacer and stock GS hood.

I'm not comfortable with how close it comes to the top of the hood. Some rules of thumb indicate you should have 3" of clearance at the top of your carb and any obstructions.

All you can do is try it.

    Good luck at the track.

I run a SP1 with a 1" spacer. It does fit under a stock GS hood, but there is NO room for an air cleaner at all.

Phil, are you saying you use no air cleaner at all, is it ok to do that?

i just modified my elderbrock triangle foam aircleaner, i trimmed a 1/2'' off the bottom flange and it just clears the top of the Qjet, and the hood closes now with no resistance, i did try my 3'' drop aircleaner with a flat piece of metal accross the top, but it still rubs a little on the hood, the foam air cleaner will breath better because it will suck air from the top. i still will race with the air cleaner off, some day i will get the courage to cut up my skylark hood, but i still want to get 11s with the stock hood.

I only ran with an air cleaner at the track and only for about 4 passes. I have since put on a Stage 2 scoop and proper 4" or 5" element.

I'm still waiting for a day I can go that it isn't raining up here. When I'm done "playing" with how quick I can get the car, I'll probably just put the original hood back on, remove the spacer and run the drop base air cleaner with 3" element.
