I have a ptc 9.5" converter in the car now and the car is faster, but the highway rpm is really high, way higher than the switch pitch, so I now need to see if they can reduce the cruise slippage. The switch pitch still maybe the best way to go on a street car..:puzzled:

Yes i am and the rpm and 60 mph is around 3000 rpm with the GV on! I am having the stator changed to one that should be tighter on the street

Dang! My 3800 BTE is right at 2500 rpm at 60 mph with 3.55's and 26" tires. This is with the gv engaged.

    3.55's with the GV engaged is like 2.77's. 336/26 X 2.77 X 60 = 2148 RPM. If you are at 2500 RPM@60 MPH then 352/2148 X 100 = 16% slippage, better than Norbs but still slipping.

Larry...yeah 16% is far from ideal. Norbs what rear gear and size tires you running??

I thought 2500 rpm with the switch pitch was bad......but this is alot worse. I am hoping the restalled version at least wont go above 2500 and i could live with it that way

Shoot my converter would probably work good for you then. Its a 10" BTE with anti ballon plates rated 3400-3800 stall. Flashes right at 3800-3900 behind my 408sbc. Costs like $350...

PAE builds a SWEET SP converter. I've beteen the hell out of mine and it keeps coming for more. Jim at PAE is the only guy that would stand behind his SP converter knowing how much power I was making, and how I drive / use my car. Give him a call, I'm sure he can make a converter that will fit your tranny that you'd be more than happy with.

Well, im trying another ptc converter, but my thrust bearing is shot on the motor, since when i had a 200r4 the trans shop forgot to tighten the stator support bolts and chewed up basically everything. The switch pitch parts are on the shelf collectiing dust, until i find another th400 case that a 12" converter can fit. Ptc says this one should not slip that much until i really get on high loads. I'm changing the motor soon so everything is waiting on that. I hope it all works out, or i;ll go back to the switch pitch.
