Just had that happen last week going to Lake City on this open, straight as an arrow 20 mile stretch of two lane. No traffic at all out there this day though. It is 60 mph the whole way and I was cruising at about 65 mph (and everybody passing me usually) and I see the disco lights way back behind me in the rearview mirror. It takes him 5 minutes to catch me and that whole time my heart is racing. He turns out to be a country sheriff and blows past me at about 90+ mph. A couple of minutes later I come up on him with some guy in a pick up pulled over. That guy never past me and I really could hardley make him out 2-3 miles ahead of me, so how did the sheriff know how fast he was going? Never saw a plane or anyone on the side of the road (no where to hide and only 4 cross streets). Weird!
