I'm about to reassemble my 455 and I have been holding out on purchasing a cam until I heard from the good guys...
Objective is a cam a little warmer than the stage 1 cam with horsepower gains in the 20 to 30 range but still very streetable.
Let me give you a run down on the motor and car

    1971 Skylark
    1972 455 Stage 1 motor
    Beefed Up TH350 Tranny (hardened sprags,shift kit,etc..)
10 bolt 8.5 rear end w/ highway gear 2.6something (shortest one
hopefully to upgrade to 3.08 w/ posi later)
Stock Convertor for 400 turbo with 350 bolt up ring

    Motor Specs:
    72 455 block .030 over
Stage 1 heads big chamber w/ 3 angle grind stock rocker setup
Speed Pro Hypeurtectic Pistons (9.5 to 9.8 to 1 compress with large chambers)
    Edelbrock Performer Intake
    Edelbrock 795 quadrajet
    Mechanical Fuel Pump Stage 1
    pertronix ignition conversion
PE106 stage 1 springs and grooved cam bearings
Standard Oil Pump w/ Booster Plate

Would like to here a little lope and a nice sound but not get away from a stock valve train.

Also has anybody heard anything about Reed Custom Cams out of Georgia. They have been recommended for a custom grind or standard grind if needed.

Thanks for all of the help

The TA 212 might work pretty good for you.

I agree with Dan.The TA212 would be about max with a stock converter.I use the TA290-94H 2 up from the 212.It has a bit of a lope at idle and a 2200 stall helps it along also. Many opinions out there on this commen request.Later,Tony.

I ran the T/A 212 in an otherwise stock 70 455 and was very pleased with it. Used a 350 trans and 2.56 gears. Worked out very well. Mild lope when cold but smooths out once car warms up.

I have been using the Crane 218 duration 112 LC /448 lift.
I have tryed 3 other cams for the street and this cam is the best one I have ever used for street power and gobs of torque from
1500 rpm to 4500. I have a 70 GSX stage 1 with turbo 400 transmission and 3.64 Posi rear end. I use the stock intake and TA
headers that are jet hot coated with 2-1/2 exhaust and cross over. My best time ever on the strip with this cam was a 12.90
@105.89 on street tires ( no slicks or soft compound tires). Just
with BF Goodrich 295-50/15's on Buick Ralley rims widened to 8".
I love this cam for the street, it will break the tires loose a 50 miles per hour when it shifts.
