Theres some neat stuff here and one question goes out to Luke here... Im pretty familiar with 55 and up chevys, but this one 60 Impala drop top has 1/4 panel trim that reminds me of the door panels on your Caddy. Is this some custom stuff. Its not the turned machine SS trim that the 62-64's got. What gives??? ws https://www.proxibid.com/Collector-...et-Impala-Convertible/lotInformation/54179080
No idea, but I'd say it's custom. I'm no Chevy expert and definitely no Impala aficionado, but I've only seen them painted different colors like the 2nd one posted.
See what is. How many rebotched whatevers are out there? Been big topics here. If that is done nice and right. How can you knock it? Before and after pic's speak volumes. Yes that is factory rear quarter trim. My own biased opinion (imagine that) 1966 and 67 Riviera's are the sexiest cars Ever out of GM. Second? 59 60 Chevys. 55 Chevy (not a 57 fan so much. 56's are also a good year)third. Fourth... 1970 442... 1970 GS... Still love a Chevelle and a GTO too but. You can't even come close to a 70 Buick or Olds. Especially a convertible. 1970 Buick A body or an Olds? Get out.
I knew somebody that worked for me that had a roommate. His Dad had a black white convertible top. Red interior 1961 409 Impala. Ordered it. Bought it new. I saw it up close. Oh my goodness. Factory 409 61 Impala ragtop. Black white and red?? I want to say it had 63k on it. Nothing like popping the hood on a factory W Motor 348/409. Like a nailhead but a Chevy. Oops sorry for the Chevy post. But not.
In about 1973 I met up with an Olds' mechanic that was driving (a DD nonetheless!) a 1961 Impala SS (348 or a 409?) 4 speed car. Bone stock. Absolutely the very first year for the SS Impala with about 200 being built? Some one have better numbers for me? One of my first cars was a 1962 SS in Nassau Blue with a 4 speed. Let a girl drive it. That put the Kibosh on that one ws
screws for the VIN could be correct, they where screwed on, then spot riveted and then used 2 diff rivets by 65 and later the rosette rivets, that everyone outside of the car scene says the rosettes are right for all..well it isnt... on GM cars...a little more research is needed before calling a molested VIN... corvettes back then had the vin screwed to the steering column under the hood..so...
