Sweet ride! I'd love to hear it idling a bit lower rpm too, say 700-800. I bet it has a nice "cruise night sound" in that RPM range. The whole thing looks great.
Thanks Mark; only problem with lower idle is in gear, it's too low. Don't like to load the motor up at the lights.:TU: Like to keep it "on the pipe" & happy!
Well, Sean, it's been abt. 4 years now since Lunati lobe issue, just after that, lost both mom & dad, 10 days apart, lived a good life though, 90 & 92 yrs! Lost my youngest brother 58, got hit on his motorcycle by young girl pulling out of a McDonald's 10-2-13, then on 10 -25-13, I had left rotator cuff surgery. Yes it hurts like h--l! , BUT ! Got the engine together, it's rollered, bored, balanced, align honed, degreed, etc. and picked up 3,200 stall 10" lockup from JW, plumbed in a elect. brake vacuum pump, cause this eng. won't produce more than 10-12" of vacuum. Kind of set my shoulder recovery back abt. 3 weeks shoveling and sno-blowing this crap that got dumped upon us. Just waiting for shoulder to heal, and some mild weather to arrive. Otherwise, it's ready to go! And I don't work anymore so everyday is a saturday !!!!! See pics....
My condolences about the loss of your family member especially your brother... So sad. Sorry to hear about the shoulder, glad to hear about the retirement! I am still working on my car, but making progress slow and steady.
Hey Mart can you port some pics of the cutters you made for heads? They have you in therapy for the shoulder yet? Have a friend had similar surgery back in July he did a lot of extra therapy to get it back to strength.hope it goes well for you
Some times I could make a valve guide boss, teflon seal cutter, faster than I could get it from Jegs or Summit!!:laugh::Brow: Thanks and yep, PT twice a week. That snow shoveling stuff really beat me up. I'm not there yet.
Hey Marty,.. Sounds like your last few years has been trying and rough for your family, sorry for your losses... Hope this year gives you a little more enjoyment with your family and your Buick, that is one beautiful car, your head work looked great, nice job on them and making the tools.. What cam and comp. are you running in that motor know, sorry if I missed that part of your motor info.. I think I seen you out on Woodward before.. Best of luck to you for 2014...
Thanks Jerrold, and everyone. Been out to the avenue, but last few yrs it's been in the Z06. Sounds like you have your son's car getting there. My comp is at 10. Heads & block decked some. Here's cam card, (for Gary to play with), I know it's big, new stall with the 390 gears should help out.
Wow ,.. big cam, I bet it sounds wicked like a BB buick,.. I'm surprised the lift is'nt up in the .450 - .470 range though.. unless im looking at wrong.... I think it should run in the 12's, the stall & gears will deffently pick up the bottom end... Thanks for the cudo's on the son's car, were hoping to have alot fun with it this summer. were looking for a 12.99 pass at 103 if she holds up,..were bumping the shift points to 6000 rpm...:eek2: I'm sure he will probably want to go to Woodward this year with it, maybe we can meet up...:TU:
Give me the .006 numbers (and where you have ICL installed to) and I'll give you an analysis for your cam if you like. :TU: Gary
Thanks, Installed at 102*.(actually came out at 101.5*), allows for chain stretch, Here they are Gary:
Oops, I new I forgot to add something up .584, that's large by huge for a sbb. Wow, installed on a 101 intake CL... Lol, prob. Sounds like a Pro Stock car... NICE...!
