I was thinking about running a 210S in the motor I'm about to put together. I need some advice on what to do or not to do. Specifically, what block modifications need to be done to the oil passages, etc.
Is anyone else running something like this on the street? How often do you have to adjust the lash? Will a solid like this really make more power than a comparable hydraulic? Which lifters are good to use, and where to buy?
The 210s doesn't have that much lift. Will it stress the block if it is not filled in the lifter area? I have nice lifter bores with no core shift.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
I've finally narrowed down my combination to what I think will work the best for me:

'71 block- balanced assembly, forged 22cc notched pistons- .003" out of the hole, .040" gasket, 72cc ported stage 1 heads- 10.22:1 compression. 210s cam, roller rockers, B4B, '73 800 JO reworked Q-Jet with 1" spacer, MSD 6AL and pro billet distributor, headers, X-pipe 3" exhaust
    TH-400, 12 bolt with 4:10's. Looking for 11.50's in a full weight 69.

    Steve,

I ran a 210s in my 69 for quite a few years. I loved it. I even ran power brakes. You'll find that you do not have to mess with the valve lash much. After you set the valve the first time you'll need to go through them agian after 200-300 miles or 4-5 passes. After that, as long as you don't remove the rocker arms, you'll just need to check them every spring. Even then you might not adjust any.

Your combo looks pretty good. The B4B kinda stands out as maybe being alittle odd for that cam, but what do I know.

My combo ran: 11.5:1, TA intake, 990 cfm 4150 Holley, 3800 ATI 10", everything else the same as you. I got it down to 11.60, full wheight with exhaust. Back then I was learning as I went, so I think your 11.50 goal is very doable.

Good luck. Ask anyother questions you like.

Interesting info. On my last Buick, I had a never ending lifter tick, and I guess that can be a problem. With a solid cam, I don't see how that could be a prob., as long as all is adjusted well.

I know that I will be giving up a little with the B4B/q-jet, but I really like it for the street. I don't think the B4B is as bad a manifold as so many think. I will be really happy if I can get it to run in the 11.5-11.8 range consistantly through exhaust.

    Shayne,
sounds like you had the same idea as I do. Thanks for the info on the 210S. I was surprised how little you had to adjust it! That's cool. did you restrict the oil flow to the lifters using the solid cam?
