At your power level I think solid mounts would be not be wise...These blocks just aren't strong enough.(Had a friend crack a block years back in the area of the mounts).
I think you would be better served fabbing up a mid-plate or frt. plate.
The only thing the mounts should do is locate the motor.....anything more and problems are inevitable.IMO.

I made solid mounts for mine and I've wondered if that was the best idea or not. The way the headers are the factory mounts were in the way. I may need to go back and add some rubber somewhere!

I plan on rubber mounts with a torque strap or two.

It would be nice if someone started making Poly mounts for us...... that would be a good middle ground between the ruber and solid mounts........ Maybe some day :)

    Hi Guys,

Rich.....HRParts-N-Stuff is currently tooling up for 400/430/455 poly mounts. Here's an excerpt of a recent e-mail Paul Ferry sent me after my multiple inquires over the years concerning them...

The mounts are getting done up this winter along with mounts for the new T/A alum v-6 block. Should be ready early this spring. Got to make it happen this time around, you guys have been waiting too long as it is.
    Paul

Here is a link to his website...

    Hope this helps....:)

Rich.....Things are going pretty good for me. Thanks for asking:) I got married a little over a month ago to a wonderful gal who loves working on cars and keeps telling me she won't be giving me any grief over mine or the money I spend on them, in fact she tells me she will insist on it.:TU: Afterall I haven't drove either one of my Buick's since Aug. of '99:ball: and I've been suffering from major withdraws only peddling around in a severely underpowered '65 289ci 4V Mustang...at least compared to a BBB!

That's GREAT new's Kerry! I had no idea. You better start spending while she still feels that way  99's a long time to not be in the seat of a BBB. If I were around your area, I'd pedal over and let you take mine for a cruise (honest, I would)...

I'm glad things are going well..........

Rich......THANKS, I appreciate that! She assures me she I don't have to worry about that. She gets on me with statements like "you spend entirely too much on me!". I tend to disagree with her on that subject but I don't think that's healthy to do too much of!

I wish you were local, I need some Buick SPEED!!!:TU:

I like to use stock motor mounts, but i also use a 3/16"x1" strap mounted to the drivers side head and bolted to the frame under the master cylinder to restrict all movement.
I also take the stock trans mount and get rid of all the rubber and put a pin(1/4" bolt and nut) through it, but first mill it at and angle so it can move 4deg. to each side and slide front to back about 1/4" each way to keep bad things from happening.
This is used with the trans crossmember being bolted to the frame(no rubber) for more strength.
